Aviation Fund Transfers - Many may not know but about three years ago there was over $30 million in the State Aviation Fund for airports to apply for grants for improvements. The SAF (State Aviation Fund) has basically been completely removed by the State Legislature to help with the off set of the deficit. AOPA as well as Arizona Airports Association has worked hard to keep this from happening, but with little to no success.
NEW Northwest Run-up and Apron Area recently completed.
The purpose of the run-up area is to complete all necessary preflight run-ups and checklists PRIOR to taxing to the north Runway 7L/25R for departure. This will alleviate a back-up on Taxiway A and B causing delays for aircraft ready to depart.

The new Run Up area IS CONTROLLED BY THE FAA TOWER on Ground Frequency. As you will see the green area is the movement area and is separated by a non-movement area hold bar. Please be aware that you must have approval by Tower and they will designate what run-up hold area you can taxi to and conduct your run-up/preflight checklist.

You will also have the ability to conduct maintenance run-ups in that area, however, if you need to work on your aircraft, you MUST first cross the non-movement area markings just north and you can work on your aircraft on the adjacent apron area. Remember, to cross into the movement area, you MUST contact Ground to get approval on 121.8.
