DVPA "Quick and Current" January 9, 2010
As reported in the January 8 AOPA ePILOT, the FAA has issued a final airspace rule that requires two-way radio communication in the vicinity of Luke Air Force Base effective May 6. All VFR aircraft operating in the vicinity will have to establish communication with the Luke Radar Approach Control prior to entering a Special Air Traffic Rule area and maintain communication while operating in the area.
An updated map of the SATR area and more details will be provided to DVPA members in an additional "Quick and Current" as soon as they are available
The next DVPA Hospitality Hangar will be Saturday, January 23 from 8 to 11 a.m. at north-side hangar 49-4, located near the self-serve fuel station.
This event is showcasing Sibran Fuel and Texaco. A Texaco representative will be present to discuss 100LL fuel properties and the extensive quality control measures in the process to provide the high quality 100LL product..
Mark your calendars to be sure to attend the DVPA annual membership meeting. It will be held on Thursday, February 18, at the DVT terminal restaurant. Luke AFB representatives are being scheduled to provide the latest information on the SATR airspace and the procedures planned for the new airspace. Watch the "Quick and Current" for more details on this important meeting.
The 2010 DVPA Monthly Board of Directors meetings have been moved to the DVT terminal 2nd floor conference room. For many years, a PanAm/TransPac meeting room was available for DVPA monthly meetings. DVPA was notified late last year that this resource is no longer available because of the increased TransPac training activity. Our thanks to TransPac for providing us a home for many years.
