Our KDVT Airport Manager has been temporarily assigned to help Scottsdale as their manager. During this period, Barney Helmick, from Goodyear, as been assigned as our temporary Manager. Gary and Barney assumed their duties Feb. 1.
It's official! KDVT is the busiest GA airport in the country. The facility gained 6.8 percent in takeoffs and landings, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The federal agency counts air traffic by landings and takeoffs on runways and includes single and multi-engines, turboprops, helicopters and business jets.
"We are ranked Number 1 for the busiest general aviation airport in the country," said Gary Mascaro, Deer Valley Airport manager, who attributed the increase in business in part to flight schools.
Deer Valley outperformed its longtime competitor, San Fernando Valley-based Van Nuys Airport, which had comparable landings and takeoffs.
That airport in California showed 9 percent fewer airplanes landed and took off in 2009.

During 2010 hangar use compliance will continue with "random inspections." Two to three hangar rows will be randomly chosen each week for inspection. This will continue until all rows have been chosen and then the process starts over again. When a hangar passes inspection, the renter will hear nothing from airport management (good!)
If, however, a hangar does not pass, the renter will be notified on a new inspection date and mailed the details of the noncompliance and an allowable timeframe to comply.
