DVPA "Quick and Current"    March 16, 2010

Transpac Training to GEU. TransPac has moved their high performance training to new quarters at Glendale airport (GEU). For most DVT pilots this means the TransPac King Air aircraft parked near Cutter that are used. High performance training in the King Air aircraft is in last phase of the foreign market training curriculum at TransPac.  It provides the turbine transition to the airlines. TransPac has added approximately 100 instructors and administrative people this past year to accommodate the increased Asian market.business.

Paper or Plastic Do you still have a paper pilot certificate, if so; it will become illegal after March 31. The Federal Aviation Administration will require pilots to trade paper licenses for plastic licenses by March 31. The cost to receive a new license in the mail is $2. See the DVPA web site under FAA for more detail.
Daylight Saving time This past weekend, the nation went thru the spring ritual of changing clocks to “daylight saving time”. For pilots, this sometimes catches us by surprise when flying to airports bordering Arizona and find that the clock changed from Arizona time and you missed the serving time for breakfast or were an hour late or early for an appointment. So we are now in the time that Mountain Standard Time (MST) equals Pacific Daylight Time (PDT).
All Deer Valley Pilots Association members are encouraged to read the two documents AOPA has prepared that stress the importance of general aircraft security. Both of these files are on the DVPA web site.
