DVPA "Quick and Current" April 17, 2010
URGENT NEED: The Challenge Air event at DVT is NEXT Saturday, April 24. The need for local pilot volunteers is critical. Volunteers will fly "challenged children" on short 20 minute flights in the DVT area similar to what is done with EAA's Young Eagles program. The requirements are slightly different due to the fact that almost all of the children have special needs.
If you can volunteer, fill out the registration at:
challengeair.com/registration/pilot.php
These challenged kids need YOU to make this a successful and memorable event.
AOPA President Craig Fuller will hold a Pilot Town Hall at Hangar One in Scottsdale April 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. During this free event, Fuller and AOPA staff will talk about the current state of general aviation and visit with other pilots from the region.
The new Sounds of DVT,a live air traffic control monitoring system, featuring three speaker stations on the terminal observation deck is now fully operational The speakers are arranged to highlight each of the north and south tower frequencies as well as a third on ground control/clearance delivery in a zone on the observation deck. The stairway to the deck is outside, north side of the building, at the outdoor eating area. This a great place for airplane buffs and kids so tell your friends. Also, this is a great venue for student pilots to learn good (and not so good) communication practices.
The next DVPA Hospitality Hanger is May 1 from 8 to 11 a.m., southeast hanger 9-3, and this is promising to be one of the best ones ever. In addition to a great lineup of presentations, we will have a raffle for a gift certificate for Panache Aircraft Wash services. Mark your calendar and plan on attending.
