HOT Airspace The restricted airspace R-2310 in the Florance AZ area is now active. The Army is utilizing the airspace for live munition training and aerial unmanned vehicles (UAV's). There has been several transgressions of GA aircraft into R-2310.Details are available on the DVPA web site.
AOPA President Craig Fuller will hold a Pilot Town Hall at Hangar One in Scottsdale Friday April 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. During this free event, Fuller and AOPA staff will talk about the current state of general aviation and visit with other pilots from the region.
SATR almost Here! The Luke AFB Special Air Traffic Rule is in effect May 6th. Review the procedures on the DVPA web site. Also May 6th, the new Phoenix Sectional chart edition is in effect, showing the new, unique airspace. For your convenience, Mike with the Deer Valley Flight Bag will be at our upcoming Hospitality Hangar and will have a supply of the new chart editions. You are encouraged to have current charts in your aircraft.
DVPA Hospitality Hangar - Mark your calendar for May 1st, the next DVPA Hospitality Hangar. It will take place in the Southeast hangars # 9-3, just east of the Cutter Ramp. Your program consists of a talk by Wayne Fisher of Mooney Aircraft outlining the history of the Mooney airplane. Then Capt. Mark Robens of Phoenix Fire and Dr. Chuck Crinnian will give a presentation on basic aviation first aid and organizing an aviation survival kit.
We will have a raffle for a gift certificate generously supplied by Panache Aircraft Wash for their services. Also, be sure to pick up one of our new insulated super DVPA Travel Mugs. The event starts at 08:00 and run till 11:00. Stop by and socialize with your fellow aviators and enjoy coffee and dougnuts.
Friends of DVPA - The Friends of DVPA project is up and running on our web site. This is a great opportunity for members that are business owners or service providers to market to your fellow aviators your aviation and non-aviation services and products. A nominal fee of $20 will get you exposure to DVT pilots/tenants for a year. We will have the materials available at the Hospitality Hangar to get your company or service on the web site. You can also post your ad by following the instructions on the web site, Friends of DVPA section. We hope this adds value to your DVPA membership and supports your fellow airport tenants and pilots.
Gary Mascaro is departing the Pattern - Deer Valley's airport manager, Gary Mascaro, has accepted a position to manage Scottsdale Airport effective April 30th. Barney Helmick has been the interim airport manager the last few months as Gary was on “loan” to SDL. As of now, Barney will continue to manage the airport although it is not clear what the long term plan may be. DVPA will keep you informed. We wish all the best to Gary.
