Volunteers needed for Make-A-Wish Foundation Plane Wash (Sat, 9/12) Atlantic Aviation will be hosting an aircraft wash fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Foundation on Saturday, Sept. 12,. The event will be at the north-side wash rack and a barbeque will accompany the event. This is a great opportunity to have your plane washed and also donate to charity. Come out and lend a helping hand to charity.

TRACON speaking at DVPA Dinner Meeting (Wed, 9/16 ) Another dinner meeting is scheduled for next week at the DVT Restaurant. PHX TRACON will be speaking on the Phoenix airspace and use by General Aviation. If you fly the Bravo airspace, you do not want to miss this presentation. Dinner starts 6pm with presentation following at 7pm-8:30pm.
Instrument Pilot Prep Session (Sat/Sun, 9/26&27) DVPA member and Gold Seal CFII Bob Littlefield will be holding an Instrument Pilot written exam prep session in Scottsdale on Saturday and Sunday, September 26th & 27th, 8:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. each day. Pioneer Village Plane Ride Donation needed - Thelma Williams, Phoenix Councilwoman, is looking for a pilot and aircraft to give a plane ride donation during the Oct. 10 "Pioneer Village Days" celebration. Anyone available for this worthy event should contact; communications@dvtpilot.com

Toby Jones, DVT Tower Chief is staying for another year. Toby had an opportunity to return to TRACON but has decided to extend another year in spite of a long daily commute from the Queen Creek area. Thanks, Toby for staying on.
DVT 2009 Grant Funding reaches $10M. Airport Manager, Gary Mascaro reports receiving another $5.3M grant that will be used to complete the south ramp refurbishment this year. Another $2.1M grant was received for Part 139 type enhancements like enhanced marking, signage and lighting . This brings the total amount to $10M for 2009, which is the most DVT has ever received in a single year. This new funding will allow work to be started on the northwest ramp area which will become a RW7L run-up area as per the Master Plan. It is now being used as a tie down area.
TransPac Recruiting Instructors. If you are interested in flight training job opportunities, contact TransPac flight school. They are looking to add 10-15 CFIs by year end.
Rats on North Ramp. No, that isn't another name for our north ramp tenants. Some north ramp tenants have reported seeing what looked like rats scurrying around in the early morning. Airport administration has been notified and you are encouraged to report any rodent problems. Some of these rats are large - - in one case a fuel truck was following one around mistaking it for an aircraft. Just kidding.
