DVPA "Quick and Current" - Wednesday November 25, 2009

At our December dinner meeting, DVPA will hold its annual stuffing of "Goodie Trays" for our key businesses at Deer Valley. The fun event starts at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16. Note that this meeting is on a Wednesday, not the usual Thursday.
Every year, DVPA gathers cookies, candies, bakery and holiday treats from its members. Then volunteers from the membership and the Board of Directors prepare the trays and deliver them to key airport supporters that include DVT Tower, DVT Operations and DVT Admin.
All members need to bring some of the suggested treats to help us show how much we appreciate our key airport supporters.

As a recent incident at 11,000 MSL near Show Low (KSOW) proved, bird strikes are a very real possibility in Arizona. At high closing speeds, little can be done to avoid them, but at lower speeds -- time to take evasive action -- it might be wise to remember that birds will almost always dive to avoid "traffic."

Ray Weigold, a DVPA Director and officer for many years, passed away Oct. 31 after a noble fight against cancer. In additions to many past DVPA officer positions, Ray was our current treasurer. The treasurer duties will temporarily be performed by the president, Ed Chauza.
(More information on Ray is available on the DVPA web site.)

The Annual Picnic Celebration, November 14th, was a success. Over $300 was generated and many memberships were renewed or created. (See web site for photos.)
